10 Actions / 100 Days

Hopefully you ALL had the opportunity to march this weekend. It was a day I will forever be humbled to share with all of you beautiful creatures. Below is the San Diego March from my perspective, what I learned, and how we can all continue The Women’s March for equality by completing The 10 Actions in the First 100 Days Campaign with vigor and grace.

As I headed towards Downtown San Diego with family and friends, our wet signs still drying in the backseat, champagne chilled ready to pop, singing along as Beyonce belted out one girl ballad after another I couldn’t help but feel bogged down by the weight of where I knew this otherwise seemingly light hearted Saturday morning was headed. Because brewing all around us was the magnetic undercurrent of women diverse in shape, race, age, sexual orientation, and ethnicity preparing to fight songs of their own. I felt fueled and ready for battle. Eager and armed with my neon sign which read “I know, I know.. I stood up for myself. I’m such a bitch.” But when I reached the crowd my heart fluttered. I had imagined throngs of angry women unleashing decades of pent up oppression and pain only to be greeted by 40,000 beaming faces oozing with nothing but LOVE, COMPASSION and SUPPORT for one another. And men! Men boldly blasting their sweet truths into mega phones, men walking and chanting proudly beside their partners, men holding the hands of their young daughters barely able to see over the top of the posters they carried...

Truth talk, before this march I had 100% underestimated the power of people. What hit me the hardest was realizing that yes, we are angry but more importantly we are awake. Proof was in the Sunday paper. Over one million men and women ALL AROUND THE WORLD showed up unified in an effort to spark change and demand equality with zero arrests. This day was bigger than vocalizing our personal anger, issues and injustices, it was a promise to each other that we are all physically present in the battle to end them.

So we marched. But how many of us have started falling seamlessly back into our pre-march routines? Buzzing with all the ooey gooey love of bold signage and sisterhood but not sure what to do next. Do yourself a favor and jolt your revolt by heading over to The Women’s March website. With a step by step plan The 10 Actions in 100 Days Campaign is straightforward and totally doable even for the busiest of lady babes. The march for equality is not over beauties! Grab your local girl gang & make a pact to complete ALL TEN ACTIONS NO MATTER WHAT. Together our voices will be heard, and not onlu will we make history but we will create HERstory.
